Little Bluestem is a prairie grass native to Wisconsin, known for its blue-green stems which turn red in the fall. Its seeds support birds and other wildlife, and it is often used in prairie restoration projects across the state.
Erica Helwig is a printmaker and book artist based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her Associate of Arts and Sciences degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County, and is working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art with a focus in Studio Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her printmaking and book arts practice is centered around documenting the things closest to us in our every day—whether that be the food we eat, the actions we perform, or the spaces we inhabit—and transforming those things into fine art works and prints. She is interested in presenting a pointedly subjective viewpoint through her work to acknowledge the universal individuality of the human experience. She has prints in the permanent collection at the UW-Milwaukee Library’s Special Collections, and has shown work in student exhibitions at both the James Schwalbach gallery at UW-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County and the Refraction gallery at UW-Milwaukee.
